Every November 25th is the "International Day for the Elimination of Family Violence" established by the United Nations, also known as the "International Day Against Family Violence".
On the eve of the International Day Against Domestic Violence in 2024, lawyer Chen Qiqian from Hebang Law Firm, as a member of the Yangcheng Law and Politics Beauty Volunteer Service Team of the Guangzhou Lawyers Association, participated in a significant legal publicity event. Themed "Love and Law Walk Together · Family Harmony and Prosperity", the event was held at Xingfu Square in Shatou Street, Tianhe District, Guangzhou on the afternoon of November 22. It aimed to deepen the public's understanding of domestic violence, enhance legal awareness, and improve self-protection abilities through a series of rich activities.
This event is jointly hosted by the Women's Federation of Tianhe District, Guangzhou, the Party Working Committee and Office of Shatou Street, and organized by the Tianhe District Youth Entrepreneurship Social Work and Volunteer Service Center. It is also supported by the Women Lawyers Working Committee of the Guangzhou Lawyers Association, the Shadong Judicial Office of the Tianhe District Justice Bureau, and other units.
On the day of the event, our lawyer Chen Qiqian, along with other volunteer lawyers, participated in a mock courtroom activity. Through the format of a simulated courtroom, the trial process of a divorce case involving domestic violence was fully demonstrated to the audience, enabling the on-site audience to deeply understand the legal handling process of domestic violence cases, relevant laws and regulations, as well as the victim protection mechanism. This effectively enhanced the legal awareness of the public, especially potential victims and bystanders. It made everyone realize that domestic violence is not only a family issue but also an illegal act that must be intervened and sanctioned according to the law. Furthermore, by simulating the real court trial process, the audience could personally feel the majesty and fairness of the law, as well as the profound impact of domestic violence on individuals and society, promoting the formation of a consensus among all sectors of society on zero tolerance for domestic violence.
The event was conducted in a tight yet orderly manner, from the host's wonderful opening to the performance of the warm-up program, to the leader's speech, indoor lectures, and outdoor booth services for the garden tour. Each link was closely related to the theme, providing the audience with in-depth knowledge of legal protections for women's and children's rights and anti-domestic violence laws.
The "Love and Law Walk Together, Family Harmony and Prosperity" "11.25" anti-domestic violence legal publicity campaign has come to a successful conclusion. Through this series of activities, not only has the public's legal awareness been enhanced, but the society's attention and emphasis on the issue of domestic violence have also been further elevated.
